New Delhi: Back home, Russia is pulversing Ukraine to oblivion. But Anna Horodetska, 29, fled her home city Kiev crossing national borders often walking miles to marry her Indian sweetheart Anubhav Bhasin, 33, a lawyer in Delhi. These love's young dream are finally united in India---where she will call home.

The news agency IANS refreshed readers today in the midst of war with the story of love transcending borders.

The young people crossed each other's path two and half years before. They began seeing more of each other before the first lockdown in 2020, traveling together across India.

At the time Anna was working with an IT company as well as moonlighting as a makeup artist back home. Come the lockdown, she was got stock in India after flight cancellation.

During their time together love blossomed, and Anna went back home. Another wave of covid 19 led to lockdown again; still, they stayed in touch with each other.

During the brief lull of depleting covid cases, they met again in Dubai and she came to India. Afterwards, Anubhav went to Kiev. In her last visit to India in December, she met his family. That's when they decided to get married. She went back home to Ukraine.

Vladimir Putin had no idea about their love, when he invaded Ukraine. Nor was he aware of the lives that perished in the attacks. Anna and Anubhav were so stubborn in their love that they went ahead with their decision to marry.

On February 24, Anna woke up to the sound of bombs. The city as she knew was collapsing around her ears. She was in and out of bomb shelters for the next three days. At home in India Anubhav must have been on the edges, nail-biting.

Now on her travails knew no limit. On the 27th morning she packed her bag to move to Poland. A car dropped her at the railway station, from where she parted with her dog and her mother.

Her mother got on a train to her hometown Kamianka to live at her grandma's. Anna got a train for Lviv to the west of Ukraine, near the Polish border. Anubhav recounted her journey adding that she reached Lviv on the 27th night and stayed there overnight.

On the 28th, Anna wanted to take a bus to Poland but decided against it. For, people were waiting at Polish border for 24 hours to get through. She got a bus heading to Slovakia border. She reached there around midnight. There was no transportation and she crossed the border on foot.

In Slovakia she found herself on a minibus heading to Krakow, Poland. She stayed there for a couple weeks at some friends' place. Finally, she applied for a visa at the Indian embassy in Poland. She was granted a one-year visa and next she flew to India to the waiting arms of Anubhav at the airport.

Anubhav says they are going to get married soon. Afterwards she will apply for Indian citizenship.

Once the war is over they will go back to Ukraine to get the dog.It could be long before Anna to see her dog again—who knows what is on Putin's mind!
