Two alleged Lawrence Bishnoi gang shooters killed in Bahadurgarh encounter
text_fieldsNew Delhi: Two men accused of being shooters for the Lawrence Bishnoi gang were killed Sunday in an exchange of fire with a joint team from the Haryana Special Task Force (STF) and the Delhi Police Special Cell near the Balaur bypass in Bahadurgarh, officials said.
The deceased were identified as Pravesh of Tibba Danasher and Himanshu of Jakhod Khera, both in Hisar district. Each carried a police reward of Rs 1 lakh and were named as prime suspects in the recent murder of a gym owner in Hansi, police said.
Authorities said the operation followed specific intelligence that the two were planning a major crime in Bahadurgarh. Teams from the Delhi Police Special Cell and the Bahadurgarh unit of the Haryana STF laid a trap; the suspects allegedly opened fire on spotting officers, prompting a firefight in which about 12–13 rounds were exchanged before the two were neutralised.
One constable sustained serious injuries and was referred to a higher medical centre after initial treatment. Four other police personnel were unharmed after bullets struck their bulletproof jackets, officials added.
Haryana STF Superintendent of Police Vikrant Bhushan confirmed the encounter. Senior officers secured the scene for forensic examination, and police said a detailed probe is underway. A press conference with further details on recovered weapons and the accused’s antecedents is expected later.
