Chennai: A Hindu rights group in Tamil Nadu’s Sivaganga district officiated at a mock wedding between two dogs on Monday.

The Hindu Mumnani carried out the bizarre act in protest against Valentine’s Day which most Hindu groups oppose.

The group has alleged that Valentine's Day goes against Indian traditions, Outlook magazine reported.

The mock wedding saw the group tying a knot between two dogs that were adorned with clothes and garlands.

The group’s cadres claimed they performed the wedding to oppose lovers misbehaving in public on Valentine’s Day.

Bharat Hindu Front, another Hindu-right group, held a similar wedding previously in 2018 in Chennai.

Back then, they married off a dog and a donkey to protest against Valentine’s Day.
