CJP leaders Abhijeet Dipke, Saurav Das, and Ashutosh Ranka will remain in preventive detention.

They are scheduled to be produced before a Special Executive Magistrate at Delhi Cantt at 9 am on Sunday.

Delhi Police sources said no arrest had been made so far and the three were being detained under Sections 107 and 151 of the erstwhile Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) as a preventive measure to maintain public order.

YouTuber and influencer Dhruv Rathee, who was detained from his home in Gurugram shortly before the planned protest, was released around 3 am on Sunday.

In an unusual incident, the three CJP leaders were detained from inside an Air India aircraft shortly after it landed in Delhi on Saturday. They had travelled from Mumbai ahead of a planned demonstration demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

A Delhi Police team, comprising mostly women personnel, boarded the aircraft within minutes of its landing. Videos showed Dipke confronting officers and telling them he had come to Delhi to get arrested, as fellow passengers recorded the incident.

CJP legal team head Ratna Singh said on X that the three leaders would be produced before the magistrate at 9 am. She said she would be present at Delhi Cantt Police Station with other lawyers representing the party.

Preventive action is intended to prevent potential offences or breaches of public order.

The proceedings may involve Section 126 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), which provides for requiring a person to execute a bond to keep the peace.

Section 170 of the BNSS provides for preventive arrest in specified circumstances, with detention under that provision generally limited to 24 hours unless further detention is authorised under another legal provision.

The CJP has called for a fresh mobilisation at Jantar Mantar at 10 am on Sunday, vowing to continue its agitation over voter-list manipulation and demanding Kumar’s resignation. The party and the All India Students’ Association (AISA) had organised Saturday’s planned protest, for which police denied permission citing security and law-and-order concerns.

Delhi Police detained more than 3,000 people across the capital on Saturday, releasing most of them later in the day. More than 20,000 police and Central Armed Police Forces personnel were deployed, including around 6,500 in the sensitive area around Jantar Mantar.

The operation disrupted public transport, with several Metro stations shut, train services cancelled and mobile internet suspended within a four-kilometre radius of the Janpath-Kartavya Path area. Metro entry and exit gates were reopened later on Saturday night, and interchange facilities were restored at the affected stations.
