Prayagraj: The bloodstains found in the Chakia office of deceased gangster Atiq Ahmad caused a commotion for the police until a thief admitted that it was his blood that had been spilt due to an injury sustained during an attempted theft of iron from the partially demolished building.

DCP Deepak has stated that Shahrukh had entered Atiq's office with an accomplice to steal iron, but had gotten injured and started bleeding. Shahrukh informed the police that his accomplice had been standing outside the office keeping watch on people moving around.

He said that after getting injured and bleeding, he had run upstairs to clean himself with whatever cloth he could find. He then went to a nearby shop to purchase a bottle of water to clean the blood but was unable to pay for it.

The police have arrested Shahrukh after verifying his statements. They have also revealed that he is a drug addict and that a search for his other accomplice is underway.
