Chennai: Tamil Nadu assembly on Monday witnessed the governor R N Ravi walking out while Chief Minister M K Stalin moved a resolution.

Just as the MK Stalin was speaking Governor Ravi left the Assembly without waiting to end the proceedings with the national anthem, inviting criticism from the parties across spectrum, The Indian Express reported.

In his speech, Stalin claimed that the governor’s activities were against the principles of the Dravidian Model of governance.

Stalin reportedly said that the government gave respect to the Governor who came to deliver his speech under the Constitution.

Criticising further, he said the governor acted against not just “our principles but also against the government”, adding that he didn’t read the speech that was approved by him.

‘It’s not just saddening, it is against the traditions of the assembly,’ Stalin reportedly said.

The governor reportedly skipped portions relating to the management of law and order in the state, ideals of social justice, self-respect, inclusive growth, and women empowerment, among others.

The other points he skipped included the portions about the principles and ideals of Dravidian leaders, including Periyar, B R Ambedkar, CN Annadurai, and M Karunanidhi, alongside the Dravidian model of governance.

Even before the Governor was to start the speech, DMK allies the VCK, the Left parties, and the Congress shouted slogans against the governor.

Meanwhile BJP MLA Vanathi Srinivasan condemned the behaviour of the legislators.

DMK minister Thangam Thennarasu said the governor disrespected the national anthem with his leaving the assembly before it was played during the conclusion of the session.
