School principal arrested for fatally beating daughter over low NEET mock test score

The father, Dhondiram Bhonsle, a school principal, has been arrested following the tragic death of his daughter, Sadhana Bhonsle.
Sadhana, a Class 12 student who had earlier achieved an impressive 92.60% in her Class 10 board exams, was preparing for the highly competitive National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). During one of her recent practice tests, she scored lower than expected—an outcome that enraged her father.
In a fit of anger, Dhondiram allegedly beat his daughter with a stick. The severe beating left her with critical head injuries. She was rushed to Ushakal Hospital in Sangli but tragically succumbed to her injuries before receiving medical attention.
Police confirmed that Sadhana’s mother filed a complaint on June 22, alleging that the assault occurred because of her daughter’s performance in the test. “The accused father has been arrested and is in police custody till June 24. The case is under investigation,” said officials.
