A bench of justices L Nageswara Rao and Hrishikesh Rao of the Supreme Court on Monday sought responses from the Centre and others on a plea seeking disclosure of data on Covid-19 vaccine's clinical trials in India. The court has given them four weeks time to respond.

Noting the vaccine hesitancy amidst the public, the court inquired whether the petition would create doubts in citizens over the vaccine.

However, advocate Prashant Bhushan, appearing for the petitioner, clarified that it is not an anti-vaccine petition. The petitioner is not seeking a stop in the ongoing vaccination drive but only transparency on the issue. Disclosure of data would clear all doubts, Bhushan added. The plea sought directions for disclosure of data on clinical trials of Covid-19 vaccines and also on post-vaccination.
