Samajwadi party of "social exploitation" says Yogi Adityanath on visit to Dalit household

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath hit out at the Samajwadi Party (SP) in the state, stating that it was a party of "social exploitation" rather than "social justice". The comments were made after the CM visited a Dalit household in his stronghold of Gorakhpur.
In contrast, the Uttar Pradesh government was working without discrimination to uplift all sectors of society, the CM proclaimed on his visit to BJP worker Amritlal Bharti's house in Jhungia, on the occasion of Makar Sankranti. He emphasised that communal dining was an important part of establishing social equality.
"Only 18,000 houses were given to people under PM Awas Yojna in the full five-year term of the Akhilesh Yadav government in Uttar Pradesh, whereas the present BJP government has given 45 lakh houses to the poor and the deprived under the scheme," Adityanath told reporters after his meal at Bharti's house.
The visit comes shortly after the UP government faced attrition of some key ministers including Swami Prasad Maurya, Dara Singh Chauhan and Dharam Singh Saini who gathered in Lucknow on Friday to join the Samajwadi Party ahead of the assembly elections starting February 10.
In his stinging resignation letter sent on Wednesday, Swami Prasad Maurya had claimed his reason for resignation was due to the Adityanath government's callous attitude towards Dalits and poor people. Almost before his resignation was officially announced, Akhilesh Yadav congratulated the former BJP minister for joining the Samajwadi Party on Twitter.
CM Adityanath also hit out at Maurya, Chauhan and Saini, saying "those in the grip of dynastic politics cannot give justice to any section of society." "They are not fighting for the equality or the welfare of the backward and Dalit community but wish to promote corruption in politics," he said.
Talking to reporters in Gorakhpur, Adityanath said that the "double engine" of the BJP-led government in the Center and in UP had led to 2.61 crore households getting toilets and 1.36 crore families benefiting from the Ujjwala Yojana scheme.
"The BJP government has worked for social justice and dignity of all communities. The dream of Dalit icon Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar is being fulfilled with the mantra 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas' under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The country as well as Uttar Pradesh is moving fast on the path of development, good governance and nationalism," he added.
