Roshni Nadar Malhotra, chairperson of HCL Technologies, has made history by becoming the first Indian woman to enter the top 10 of the Hurun Global Rich List 2025 for women.

With an estimated net worth of ₹3.5 lakh crore, she has secured the fifth position among the wealthiest women globally.

Her remarkable rise in the rankings follows a significant 47 percent stake transfer from her father, Shiv Nadar, the founder of HCL Technologies. This move grants her control over Vama Sundari Investments (Vama Delhi) and HCL Corp, the primary promoter entities of HCL Technologies. As a result, Roshni Nadar Malhotra will now oversee all strategic decisions for the $12 billion tech giant.

Following the transfer, she now holds control over voting rights for Vama Delhi’s 44.17 percent stake and HCL Corp’s 0.17 percent stake in HCL Technologies, along with voting rights over Vama Delhi’s 12.94 percent stake and HCL Corp’s 49.94 percent stake in HCL Infosystems.

Prior to this stake transfer, Shiv Nadar held a 51 percent stake in both Vama Delhi and HCL Corp, while Roshni Nadar Malhotra owned 10.33 percent in each. Roshni Nadar Malhotra assumed the role of HCL Technologies’ chairperson in July 2020. Additionally, she serves as a trustee of the Shiv Nadar Foundation, which has established several prestigious educational institutions across India.

The 2025 Hurun Global Rich List includes 3,442 billionaires from 71 countries, reflecting a 5 percent increase compared to last year. The combined wealth of these billionaires has grown by 13 percent.

Among Indian billionaires, Gautam Adani remains the second-richest individual in India, ranking 18th globally. He is followed by Dilip Shanghvi of Sun Pharmaceutical at the fourth position in India, and Azim Premji of Wipro at the fifth.
