Regime change certain in 2027, says Akhilesh; slams BJP and Election Commission
text_fieldsLucknow: Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday asserted that a change of government in Uttar Pradesh was certain in the 2027 Assembly elections, while attacking the BJP and questioning the role of the Election Commission.
Speaking to reporters after paying tributes to Loknayak Jayaprakash Narayan at the Jayaprakash Narayan International Centre (JPNIC) in Lucknow on his birth anniversary, Yadav said the BJP would be voted out by the people and that the Election Commission would not be able to save its "sinking" fortunes.
Invoking Jayaprakash Narayan's call for "Sampoorna Kranti" or Total Revolution, the SP chief said the movement remained relevant for challenging those in power and that his party would follow that path to bring about the desired change.
"The process of change has begun. The anguish among the public will accelerate the process of change," he said after garlanding the statue of Jayaprakash Narayan at the memorial.
Yadav also took a swipe at Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath over the Ayodhya seat, days after challenging him to contest from the holy city.
Responding to the Chief Minister's remarks on Ayodhya, he said "arrogant individuals" would not be able to withstand the strength of his PDA alliance of Backwards, Dalits and Minorities.
The SP chief said people were now familiar with the BJP's politics and would give a befitting reply to its actions. He claimed the party was rattled by the political strength of the PDA.
Questioning the Election Commission's role, Yadav said its duty was to encourage maximum voter participation and ensure a smooth polling process.
Raising the alleged assault on Uttar Pradesh residents in Delhi, he questioned the Commission's accountability and demanded its resignation.
