Wayanad: Congress leader and Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi called the vandalisation of his office here an "irresponsible" act and was "quite unfortunate". Rahul was in Kerala's Wayanad to attend rallies protesting the buffer zones issue when he reacted to the destruction committed by activists from SFI, the students' wing of ruling CPI(M) in the state, PTI reported.

Rahul reached his office here with other senior leaders and took stock of the damage.

Rahul told the media that the office belonged to the people. Violence never resolves issues, and he is not keeping any anger or hostility towards the vandals, he said.

"Everywhere in the country, you see the idea that violence will resolve problems. And, violence never resolves problems... Its not a good thing to do.. they acted in an irresponsible way. But, I don't have any anger or hostility towards them," he said. Further, he called the SFI vandals "kids".

A week ago, a protest march conducted by SFI against Rahul Gandhi became violent, and some of the protesters barged into his office and unleashed destruction. The protest was done, claiming that Rahul was keeping silent on the buffer zone issue. The vandalism incident had prompted Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan to condemn it. He had added that strong action would be taken against the vandals.

The counter-protest, conducted by the Congress faction that surfaced after the vandalism, also turned violent in some places.
