Protests erupt in UP's Moradabad over sale of house to Muslim doctor
text_fieldsMoradabad: Protests broke out in the posh TDI society in Moradabad following the sale of a house to a Muslim doctor by a resident. Tensions flared among the society’s members after it was revealed that Dr. Ashok Bajaj had sold his house to Dr. Ikra Chaudhary.
Residents gathered at the colony gate, holding banners reading “Dr. Ashok Bajaj Apna Makan Wapas Lo” (take your house back). Neither the buyer nor the seller was available for comment.
One protester expressed that the society, which is home to over 400 Hindu families, does not want people from other communities residing there, especially since the house is located close to a temple. The chairman of the TDI City Society, Amit Verma, joined the demonstration to show solidarity with the protesting residents.
Another resident raised concerns that the change in ownership could disrupt the nature of the colony. The resident said there were fears that the demographic makeup of the society could be affected, potentially leading to unwanted changes if other communities began settling in and Hindus started moving out.
District Magistrate Anuj Kumar Singh informed that members of the society had filed a complaint to raise objections over the sale of the property. He added that discussions were underway with the involved parties to work toward a unanimous and amicable solution.
