text_fieldsNew Delhi: In her address to the nation on the eve of the 77th Independence Day, President Droupadi Murmu highlighted India's pivotal role in the global economic landscape.
She said that despite concerns about inflation on a global scale, the Indian Government's concerted efforts have shielded its citizens from its adverse effects, positioning India as a beacon of hope for worldwide economic expansion. "While global inflation remains a concern, our Government and the Reserve Bank have effectively managed to mitigate its impact within India. The common people have been safeguarded from the perils of high inflation, alongside an expanded safety net for the underprivileged."
Underscoring India's potential as an engine of international economic growth, she added, "The world looks up to India for global economic growth. This ongoing economic advancement is being driven by a dual-pronged strategy."
She also emphasised the nationwide enthusiasm surrounding G-20 events, stating that this optimism, coupled with a sense of empowerment, stems from India's significant progress on various fronts. "India's economy has not only demonstrated resilience during challenging periods but also acts as a ray of hope for others. The global economy is traversing a delicate phase, as the aftermath of the pandemic has been accompanied by international events that have introduced an air of uncertainty."
"Yet, the Government has adeptly steered through these turbulent waters. India has not only confronted challenges but also leveraged them into opportunities, resulting in robust GDP growth. Our Annadata farmers have played a substantial role in this economic progress. The nation remains deeply indebted to them," acknowledged the President.
She further highlighted the balanced approach of the Government, elucidating, "We are concurrently pushing for greater enterprise through business-friendly measures to stimulate job creation, while also expanding our welfare initiatives to support the disadvantaged in various domains."
"The focal point of our policies and endeavours remains the upliftment of the marginalised, which has resulted in uplifting a considerable number of individuals from poverty over the past decade," President Murmu affirmed.
In regard to tribal development programs, the President commented, "Similarly, specific programs are designed to enhance the condition of tribal communities and encourage their participation in the journey of progress. I urge our tribal brethren to enrich their heritage while embracing modernity.
