‘Political Islam’ inflicted greatest blow on Sanatan Dharma: Yogi Adityanath
text_fieldsGorakhpur: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday said that while British and French colonialism are widely discussed in history, the role of “political Islam”, which he claimed inflicted the greatest damage on Sanatan Dharma, is rarely acknowledged.
Speaking at the ‘Vichar-Parivar Kutumb Sneh Milan’ and ‘Deepotsav Se Rashtrotsav’ events organised by the Gorakhpur division to mark the centenary of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Adityanath said great warriors like Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Guru Gobind Singh, Maharana Pratap and Maharana Sanga had all fought battles against “political Islam”.
“Our ancestors fought major struggles against political Islam, yet this aspect of history remains largely overlooked,” he said, highlighting what he described as a “significant ideological challenge” that has not received due attention.
The chief minister lauded the RSS for its pivotal role in the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, saying that despite opposition from parties such as the Samajwadi Party, the Congress, and the INDIA bloc, the Sangh’s volunteers remained resolute in their mission.
“While members of the Samajwadi Party, Congress and the INDIA bloc questioned the Ram Temple, the RSS stood firm in its resolve. The Sangh endured restrictions, lathi charges and even bullets. Today, the magnificent Ram Temple stands as a testament to their unwavering commitment,” he said.
Adityanath alleged that activities promoting “political Islam” continue under various guises and informed the gathering that the Uttar Pradesh government has banned the sale of Halal-certified products. He claimed that profits from such sales were being diverted for religious conversions, “love jihad,” and terrorism.
Outlining the RSS centenary initiatives, the chief minister listed five key areas of transformation — social harmony, family values, environmental protection, self-reliance through indigenous goods, and civic responsibility — describing them as the pillars of a Viksit Bharat (Developed India).
“For a developed society and a developed nation, society must lead, and the government must follow,” Adityanath concluded.
