Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to go on a two-day visit to Dubai from November 30 to December 1, where he will participate in the World Climate Action Summit, held as part of the 28th United Nations 'Conference of the Parties' on climate (COP28).

The summit, hosted by the UAE, aims to address emission reduction strategies and support developing nations in managing extreme weather conditions.

The Ministry of External Affairs confirmed PM Modi's attendance at the summit, where numerous global leaders are expected to gather to discuss combating climate change by reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

During the summit, PM Modi plans to spotlight India's comprehensive climate agenda, emphasising the nation's commitment to environmental issues.

The World Climate Action Summit forms the high-level segment of COP28, which is slated from November 28 to December 12, under the presidency of the UAE. This summit is viewed as a significant platform to drive collaborative efforts in addressing the pressing challenges of climate change.

The MEA highlighted PM Modi's prior commitments during COP-26 in Glasgow, where he unveiled India's 'Panchamrit' – five specific climate targets – and introduced the Mission Lifestyle for Environment (LiFE).

India, under its G20 presidency, advocated for climate finance to support developing nations in tackling climate change, a topic expected to be deliberated upon during the World Climate Action Summit.

This visit underscores India's proactive stance on global climate initiatives and signifies the nation's dedication to addressing climate change issues on a multilateral platform.
