New Delhi: As part of the inauguration of a democratic and secular country's grand International Exhibition-cum-Convention Centre (IECC) at Pragati Maidan, which will host the upcoming G20 Summit in September, Prime Minister Narendra Modi performed a havan ( a Hindu ritual, burning of offerings such as grains and ghee on special occasions.) today.

Amidst his Cabinet members and construction workers who were honoured on the occasion, the Prime Minister commenced the day with a traditional havan, expressing gratitude for the successful completion of the project. Following the ritual, Modi personally felicitated the diligent workers and captured the moment in a heart-warming photograph.

Later in the day, Prime Minister Modi is slated to deliver an address at the formal inauguration, where he will also unveil a commemorative coin and stamp, symbolizing India's G20 presidency.

Built at a cost of approximately Rs 2,700 crore, the IECC boasts a colossal capacity to accommodate 7,000 people in its multi-purpose and plenary halls, making it India's largest convention and exhibition venue.

The site includes a 3,000-seat amphitheatre and parking facilities for 5,500 cars. The project, owned by the India Trade Promotion Organisation, commenced in 2017 after the demolition of existing structures, including the iconic Hall of Nations.
