New Delhi: The now suspended BJP functionary for the obnoxious comments against the Prophet Muhammed, Nupur Sharma, approached the Supreme Court seeking withdrawal of the observation made by the Justice Surya Kant against her during a hearing of her another plea.

While hearing Sharma's plea for clubbing all FIRs related to her comments insulting the Prophet, Justice Surya Kant observed that Nupur Sharma's loose tongue has set the entire country on fire.

A petition filed by Ajay Gautam urged the Chief Justice of India to declare Justice Surya Kant's observation uncalled-for and withdraw in order to ensure that Nupur Sharma gets a chance of fair trial.

The petitioner feels that the court's prejudicial observation against Sharma will likely have an effect on the merit of the case, which in turn deprive Sharma from fair trial and natural justice.

The plea is said to have also expressed fear that the recent murder in Udaipur where a tailor was murder for supporting Sharma's comments could also be affected by the observations, which amount to justifying the murder.

Sharma had moved the top court seeking transfer of several FIRs, registered against her in many states for alleged remarks, to Delhi for investigation. She contended she is constantly facing threats to her life from unsocial elements despite withdrawing her comments.
