Peace meeting called for Hindu-Muslim unity in Bengaluru
text_fieldsBengaluru: After the situation in the state has gone haywire following hijab row, finally there is a glimmer of sensibility beginning to dawn on.
A peace meeting, organised by Bharat Rakshana Vedike, will have religious leaders calling for peace in the state capital on Monday, IANS reported.
Barkur Sansthan Mutt Seer Santhosh Bharthi Swamiji will preside over the programme.
The peace meeting titled 'Sneha Sammilana haagu Samarasya sabhe' (Meeting for Harmony and get together) will discuss hijab saffron shawl row, killings of Hindu activists and campaign against Muslim community.
Following the hijab row, the state had seen unseemly situation widening the communal fault lines in the state.
The relations between Hindu and Muslim communities have strained too far in the backdrop of communal developments in the state since the past few months, stated Bharath Shetty, the President of Bharat Rakshana Vedike, according to IANS.
He said that if issues were not addressed and peace not found, none could say where disharmony could lead the society to.
"Hindus and Muslims, both are citizens of this country. Both have to live in peace, otherwise it is detrimental for the future of the country," IANS quoted him as saying.
The peace meeting would discuss the ways to end the series of developments.
Any campaign, he said, that has legal standing as well as for a cause is justified, but the recent campaign were targeting innocent people.
The organisers urged like-minded leaders from both the communities to attend the meeting and the discussion to find out ways of bringing back the harmony.
