New Delhi: Delhi has been placed under heightened security ahead of the INDIA bloc's protest rally at Ramlila Maidan on Sunday, with multiple paramilitary units deployed and vehicle checks intensified at entry points to the national capital.

Police have stepped up surveillance in New Delhi and Central Delhi, deploying additional personnel at sensitive locations to manage crowds, maintain public order and regulate traffic.

Joint Commissioner of Police Madhur Verma said extensive arrangements had been made to ensure the gathering remained peaceful and did not disrupt normal movement.

Personnel from the Rapid Action Force (RAF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) have joined Delhi Police in the security deployment. Additional forces have been stationed around Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Marg and other sensitive areas.

At Chilla Border, which connects Noida with Delhi, police are checking vehicles entering the city amid expectations of a large influx of protesters and party workers.

The opposition alliance is organising the 'Chalo Dilli' march to challenge alleged electoral irregularities, oppose the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists and seek the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) remains in force across Delhi districts, prohibiting gatherings at designated locations, including Jantar Mantar and the Election Commission office. Traffic arrangements have also been put in place to minimise disruption.
