Ahmedabad: A 16-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl from Pakistan illegally have entered India through Gujarat’s Kutch district crossing over the International Border.

It is reported citing the police that the teens, belonging to the Bhil indigenous ethnic group, fled their village as the girl’s family opposed their “relationship”.

They thought it was best to cross over to India as their village was very close to the border with India, they told police.

After crossing the border, they ended up in Ratanpar in Bhachau taluka of Kutch, before being apprehended by the police.

The Indian side of the Indo-Pak border is the Rann of Kutch, part of the Thar desert region.

Kutch (East) Superintendent of Police Sagar Bagmar told The Indian Express that two intruders from Pakistan were taken into custody near Ratanpar village after locals informed of their presence.

‘They are saying they are minors but they don’t have any identification documents on them, so we will have to confirm using medical tests,’ Sagar Bagmar reportedly said.

They walked 35-40 km to Ratanpar sometime on October 7, before locals reported of their presence on October 8.

They were moved to the Joint Interrogation Centre (JIC) in Kutch where illegal immigrants are housed.
