New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi called BJP MPs for various programmes as part of "samajik nyay pakhwada" (fortnight dedicated to social justice) from April 6, the party's foundation day. Addressing a parliamentary party meeting on Tuesday, Modi asked the MPs to reach out to people, the disadvantaged or backward sessions and highlight the government's programmes for their welfare, PTI reported. His call comes when Ambedkar's birth anniversary is also around the corner, on April 14.

Modi said that BJP is the only ruling party that has recognised the contributions of every prime minister of the country by building a museum to honour them.

Following the meeting, Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal told the media about Modi's call for spreading awareness of the Union government's welfare schemes for housing, nutrition and free grains and many others.

Regarding the museum for former PMs, MP Vinay Sahasrabuddhe said that the museum is essentially democratisation of national recognition and articulation of popular gratitude towards all the ex-prime ministers. BJP often slams Congress, accusing the party of glorifying PMs from the Nehru family but ignoring others.

The inauguration of the museum on Ambedkar's birthday is a recognition of his contribution of democratic architecture to the country, another BJP leader said. Modi also noted social reformer Jyotirao Phule's birth anniversary, April 11, the leader said.

In the meeting, Modi suggested the utilisation of MNREGA funds to build ponds, dedicating them to the ongoing 'Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav'.
