Satya Pal Malik

The Meghalaya Governor Satya Pal Malik today welcomed the central agency probe into allegation of corruption in Jammu and Kashmir, saying that he had informed PM Narendra Modi about a 300 crore bribe offered to him to clear two files when he served as a Governor of that state.

"The PM supported me saying there should be no compromise on corruption," he said.

After the Jammu and Kashmir administration approached the central prob agency late last month, the CBI launched a probe into Satyapal Malik's accusation.

"Two files had come for my consideration. One of the secretaries told me that if I approve these, I can get ₹ 150 crore for each. I turned down the offer saying that I had brought five kurta pyjamas to Kashmir and will just go back with them,"Malik made the statement on October 17th last year at the function in Jhunjhunu.

He said bribes had been offered by people close to PM Modi, adding that one was linked to the RSS, the parties ideological parent, and the other was linked to an Indian Industrialist.

He added that he has knowledge of all those involved and will reveal their names during the investigation, asserting that he didn't directly receive the bribes, but he knew others who did.

He asserted that false romers have been spread that he is also being investigated for both deals, adding that ' I cancelled both deals'.

According to him the CBI is investigating him because he publicly supported farmers' protest against the government and he said that he would assist the investigation with additional information.

Mr Malik said that he will not boredown to intimidation and he will fight. He added that he will stay involved in farmer's issue after retiring.
