New Delhi: Om Prakash Chautala will have to pay Rs 50 lakh fine alongside doing four years' time in jail in disproportionate assets case.

The 87-year-old former Haryana Chief Minister was convicted last Saturday by the Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi in the case, according to India Today.

He had appealed the court for a lighter punishment, citing medical ailments and old age.

But CBI on the other hand demanded for maximum punishment for leader of the Indian National Lok Dal.

Chautala's four properties in Hailey Road, Panchkula, Gurugram and Asola will be attached.

In 2005, The CBI filed a case against him for amassing assets assets worth Rs 6.09 crore disproportionate to his income.

Five years later in 2010 a chargesheet followed.

A Delhi court framed money laundering charges against Chautala in 2021.

Alongside in 2013, Chautala and his son Ajay were sentenced to ten years in jail after found guilty in a teacher recruitment scam.
