NEW DELHI: Union Minister Jitendra Singh on Wednesday said that it is not possible to change the existing provisions regarding the number of exams and age limit related to the civil services examination as the government did not find it feasible.

The Minister of State for Personnel has said that candidates have filed writ petitions in the Supreme Court on the issue of age relaxation for Civil Services Examination (CSE) and granting of extra effort to applicants due to Covid-19.

"Based on the judgments passed by Hon'ble Supreme Court of India, the matter was considered and it has not been found feasible to change the existing provisions regarding the number of attempts and age limit in respect of the civil services examination," he said in a written reply to Lok Sabha.

However, the Covid-19 pandemic caused a delay in the recruitment cycle of the Staff Selection Commission (SSC).
