Mumbai: Alleged drug peddler Regel Mahakal was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Wednesday after cash and hashish worth Rs.2.5 crore were seized from various locations in Mumbai. Other drugs including Ecstasy and various opioids were also recovered in the raids.

Regel Mahakal is accused of supplying drugs to Anuj Keshwani Mahakal who is one of the accused in the Sushant Singh Rajput death case, and who has been absconding. The drugs supply chain was traced from Rhea Chakraborty and her brother Showik both of whom are now out on bail.

Although the agency has declined to reveal Mahakal's connection to Rhea and Showik, reports suggest that it was he who supplied them with drugs. Rhea is alleged to have procured small quantities of hashish for personal use, while the father of Sushant Singh Rajput has filed a case against her claiming that it was these very drugs that prompted the actor to take his life.

Mahakal was ordered to remain in NCB custody by a Mumbai Court and is reportedly cooperating with the investigations.
