New Delhi: Karnataka Chief Minister contender DK Shivakumar is not happy about the outcome of days long tug of war for power, according to a report.

His brother DK Suresh said that DK Shivakumar has approved of the leadership’s decision in the interest of the state and the party, NDTV reported.

‘This decision has been taken in the interest of Karnataka and the party... My brother wanted to become Chief Minister, but he didn't become. We are not too happy with this decision,’ NDTV quoted the congress MP as saying.

DK Suresh said the central leadership may have reached an agreement of ‘splitting the fiver-year term’ between two leaders: Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah.

However, he is not certain about what formula was proposed but believes that the proposal was for a ‘two-and-a-half-years term-sharing’.

It is reported that Congress will announce Siddaramaiah as the Chief Minister and DK Shivakumar as his deputy at the Congress Legislative Party today, as the new ministry takes oath on Saturday.

Discussion on cabinet formation has been over just as Siddaramaiah is set to become the Congress Legislative Party leader.

Shivakumar reportedly accepted the position of Deputy CM after the former Congress president Sonia Gandhi’s intervention.

During the discussions, Kharge and Rahul Gandhi had reportedly given two offers to Shivakumar in Delhi on Wednesday, according to the report.

The first was the post of the state's single Deputy Chief Minister along with the post of heading the state party unit, plus the offer of appointing six ministers of his choice.

However, Shivakumar decided to go for the second option of power sharing with Siddaramaiah alongside being his deputy for the first half, reports say.
