Alwar, Rajasthan: Corroborating predictions made by former BJP leaders and political pundits about increasing instances of communal violence in the country in the lead-up to the Lok Sabha elections, another incident involving the killing of Muslim youth by Hindu youths has occurred in Alwar, Rajasthan.

Wakeel Ahmed, a 22-year-old resident of Tijara in Alwar, fell victim to a brutal attack by a group of Hindu youths on the night of September 8. The incident has ignited concerns about the safety of the Muslim community in the area, with many speculating that he was targeted because of his religious beliefs.

As eyewitnesses and local villagers reported, Wakeel was abducted and severely beaten in a jungle near Tijara Chowk, later to be found in a critically injured state by some villagers, who rushed him to a local hospital. Despite efforts to save his life, Wakeel succumbed to his injuries on September 12 after being transferred to a hospital in Jaipur.

Wakeel Ahmed, a father of three young girls, was the sole provider for his family. His tragic death has left his family devastated, and they initially refused to accept his body until the perpetrators were arrested. Their demand for swift justice was accompanied by a warning of protests if their plea went unheeded, although they eventually took custody of his remains.

This grim incident is the second case of mob lynching to occur in Alwar District in less than 30 days. In August, a 27-year-old Muslim man lost his life, and two others were injured under similar circumstances, allegedly on suspicion of wood theft.

Wakeel's family members have identified several individuals involved in the attack and filed a First Information Report (FIR) at the Tijara police station on September 9. However, as of now, no arrests have been made, leaving the family and the local community deeply frustrated and anxious about their safety.

In response to the escalating tension and concerns over communal harmony, the Rajasthan Police have increased patrolling in the area. They are urging residents to remain vigilant, report any suspicious activities, and refrain from spreading misleading information or rumours.
