Thriprayar (Thrissur) : Noor Jahan gave birth to three daughters. But Puthiya Veetil Abdu Razzaq and his wife Noor Jahan have four daughters. On Saturday, Puthiya Veed home was filled with joy for their fourth daughter's wedding. The marriage of the fourth daughter had some peculiarities that the marriage of the other three children did not have. The customs and practices were different.

The wedding was solemnised by the temple priest in the home-made wedding dais. Daughters of Palani and Rani living in Salem Viruthachalam, Kavita moved into Puthiya Veed 14 years ago. She was only eight years old then. It was Rathnam, a Tamil Nadu resident from Thrithallur who brought her to Puthiya Veed. Ever since then, Abdu Razzaq and his wife Noor Jahan took care of her just like their other three daughters. Kavitha grew up. She lovingly called Abdu Razzaq as Abbaji. It was Abdu Razzaq who looked for a groom for Kavitha when she got to her marriageable age. Thatwas how he found Natika resident, Sreejith, son of Vazhapulli Subrahmanya as her groom. Kavitha's two sisters had also come to attend the wedding.

The rites were done according to the Hindu custom. The Natika Iyani Temple priest Joshi preceded the wedding. Neighbours also attended the wedding following the COVID protocol.

As a wedding gift, Abdur Razzaq's three children gifted 12 sovereigns of gold to Kavitha. Abdu Razzaq and Noor Jahan also handed over the house built for her in the 4 cent plot of land set aside near their home.

Panchayat member C.G. Ajith Kumar also gave a wedding gift. Abdu Razzaq, son of the late Pareeth Master of Thriprayar district is a retired Air Force officer.
