Murder, murder: Gangster Atiq Ahmed chants outside Sabarmati jail
text_fieldsNew Delhi: Gangster Atiq Ahmed on Sunday told the reporters outside the Sabarmati jail in Ahmedabad that he would be killed in a fake encounter.
Atiq Ahmed was being taken away in a police vehicle to Uttar Pradesh's Prayagraj when he reiterated his fear of getting killed in a fake encounter with the Uttar Pradesh police.
"Mujhe inka programme maloom hai. Hatya karna chahte hain (I know their programme. They want to murder me)," news agency PTI quoted the gangster as saying.
A team of police from Uttar Pradesh arrived at the Sabarmati Jail to take Atiq Ahmed to Prayagraj.
Police left the jail premises at around 6 am with Atiq Ahmed surrounded by tight security.
Atiq Ahmed, who is named in more than 100 criminal cases including the most recent Umesh Pal murder case, will be produced in a court on March 28 in a kidnapping case.
Atiq Ahmed, lodged in the Sabarmati central jail since June 2019, was shifted there from his home state following a Supreme Court's order.
The gangster approached the Supreme Court on March 1 saying that Uttar Pradesh police will eliminate him during transit period after asking for his transit remand.
