Mumbai man kills, chops live-in partner of three years into pieces
text_fieldsMumbai: Mumbai police have discovered dismembered body of a 32-year-old woman in plastic bags from her apartment in the Mira-Bhayandar area in Thane late Wednesday.
Victim, identified as Saraswati Vaidya, had been living with her partner 56-year-old Manoj Sahani for the past three years at the apartment on the seventh floor from where her body was found, according to NDTV citing officials at the Naya Nagar police station.
Police arrived at the scene after residents complained of a disturbing odour emanating from the apartment.
To their great shock, police found Vaidya’s decomposed body cut up into several pieces.
‘A preliminary investigation revealed that the woman was brutally killed,’ Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) of Mumbai, Jayant Bajbale reportedly said.
Police are investigating the details including the potential motive behind the crime, alongside arresting her live-in partner Sahani.
Jayant Bajbale added that police are committed to find justice for Vaidya, and urged the public to supply any information that will aid the investigation.
Vaidya’s murder has a striking similarity to that of Shraddha Walkar murder case that shocked the nation last year, according to the report.
Walkar , a 27-year-old call centre employee, was killed by her live-in partner Aaftab Poonawala before cutting her up into 35 pieces and disposing of in a woody place.
Some parts of the body were stored in the refrigerator and her face was charred to mislead police.
Police zeroed in on Aaftab Poonawala and arrested him after Walker’s father filed a complaint that he had not heard from his daughter for months.
