Hyderabad: Grieving parents from Nizamabad donated their son’s heart, liver, and kidneys after he was declared brain dead from severe burns in a London fire.

K. Sai Sreekar, 26, son of government teacher Kamineni Renuka and contract worker Anjaneya Prasad from Srinagar Colony, was pursuing an MS in London. A Nizamabad native, he completed schooling there, Intermediate and engineering in Hyderabad, and traveled to the UK on February 4, 2024. He worked part-time while studying.

On February 25, a ground-floor gas leak ignited a fire at his second-floor flat in Duppas Hill Terrace, Croydon. Rushed to hospital with critical burns, Sreekar was pronounced brain dead Friday night. His parents consented to organ donation; the organs were transplanted into needy patients.

The family has appealed to Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Nizamabad MP Dharmapuri Arvind for help repatriating Sreekar's body to India.
