Hyderabad: In southern states, it's customary for movie actors to be worshipped as heroes. Because the fans wouldn't accept any criticism of their preferred actor or film, this would frequently convert into toxic internet fan wars and orchestrated troll attacks. But this harmful habit frequently stays in the virtual world. However, things became violent on Friday, June 16, when Prabhas's supporters physically assaulted a moviegoer for saying that his most recent release, Adipurush, was terrible.

An unaware moviegoer, who hasn't been identified, was discussing the film with YouTube video creators who were waiting outside the Prasads multiplex in Hyderabad to report on the big-budget movie's opening-day reception. The man was mobbed by Prabhas's admirers, who took objection to his comments as he complained about the film's poor visual effects and how Prabhas didn't appear appropriate for the part. They started out verbally abusing him for speaking his views, then quickly turned to assault, which was all caught on camera, the Wire reported.

Many internet users condemned the violence after the incident's video was uploaded, and some even requested the Telangana police's action in their comments. However, some people also appeared to support the crime. It is still unknown whether the victim went to the police and reported what happened.

Om Raut's film Adipurush, an adaption of the Hindu epic Ramayana, debuted in theatres on Friday. Prabhas, who has a sizable fan base in the Telugu states, plays Rama, the main character, in the movie. Sita is portrayed by Bollywood actress Kriti Sanon, and Ravana is played by actor Saif Ali Khan.

The film was released in five languages, namely Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada. Given that the movie reportedly cost Rs 600 crore to make, both the Telangana and the Andhra Pradesh governments let single-screen theatres raise ticket prices by Rs 50 in addition to allowing 4 AM special screenings to benefit the producers.

Initially, Adipurush was scheduled for release in January. However, the teaser for the movie, which gave viewers a preview of what it will look like, drew harsh criticism from the crowd for its subpar visual effects. The delay in the movie's release was caused by the production company's need to redo the effects.
