Monorail train halts in Mumbai due to technical snag, 17 passengers rescued
text_fieldsMumbai: A monorail train in Mumbai came to a sudden halt on Monday morning owing to a technical glitch, leaving 17 passengers stranded before they were safely rescued, officials said.
The incident occurred between Antop Hill Bus Depot and GTBN monorail station in Wadala around 7.16 am. Rescue efforts lasted about 45 minutes, after which all passengers were shifted to another train, a civic official said, citing information from the Mumbai police control room.
The Maha Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation Limited (MMMOCL), which operates the monorail, could not be reached for comment.
The disruption comes weeks after heavy rains had caused two monorail trains to stall at separate locations in the city, requiring the evacuation of hundreds of passengers.
