Patna: The Narendra Modi government is going to fall in August, RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav claimed on Friday. The former chief minister of Bihar called his party members to be ready for elections, India Today reported.

The leader claimed that the Narendra Modi government in the Centre, which took the oath to power less than a month ago, is "very weak".

Lalu Yadav was quoted by India Today, "I appeal to all party workers to be ready, as elections can happen anytime. Modi's government in Delhi is very weak, and it could fall by August." He was addressing party workers on the occasion of the founding day of Rashtriya Janata Dal, his party.

He expressed satisfaction over the party's performance in the general elections.

In the recently concluded general elections and counting, the BJP-led NDA alliance came to power for the third time in the running, with the alliance securing a majority. Though BJP had claimed to win 400 plus seats and expected at least 300 plus, it got restricted to a mere 240 seats and was forced to ally with Nitish Kumar's JD(U) and N Chandrababu Naidu's (TDP).

In the meantime, the patriarch's son and RJD leader Tejaswi Yadav said that he would not shy away from taking tough calls of he is chosen to lead the party. He said that they have conducted a review on the performance of the party at the general elections, and if he is chosen to lead, it will be his responsibility to lead the party to victory.

"I will not shy away from changing MLA candidates," Tejaswi said.
