Mission 2022: BJP begins preparation for five poll bound states
text_fieldsNew Delhi: BJP national leadership held discussions on party's preparations for assembly polls in five states scheduled early next year on Saturday.
BJP Chief J P Nadda and Union Ministers Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Nirmala Sitharaman, Narendra Singh Tomar, Smriti Irani, Piyush Goyal, Dharmendra Pradhan, Hardeep Singh Puri and Kiran Rijiju discussed preparations for the five poll bound states, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur, says an IANS report citing sources.
The meeting which lasted for over two hours had "discussions over the party's plans for these states, namely 'Mission 2022', The party will start it's poll activities as per plan in the coming day", said the report citing a party insider.
National General Secretary, Bhupendra Yadav and other national office bearers were also present at the meeting
Recently, BJP national general secretary (Organisation) B L Santhosh had visited Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh to take stock of the ground situation. He also collected feedback from MLAs, Ministers and cadre during his visit.
The saffron party's Chief JP Nadda who will be holding a meeting with the party general secretaries to discuss organisational activities in the evening, also appointed Bhabesh Kalita and Sharda Devi as presidents of its Assam and Manipur units respectively.
Bhabesh Kalita, a sitting MLA in Assam Assembly will replace Ranjeet Kumar Dass, who became a Minister in the newly-formed Himanta Biswa Sarma government in the state.
Aiming to accomplish its 'Mission 2022', the Saffron party has also named its Manipur unit head, which will go to polls next year. Devi will succeed Saikhom Tikendra Singh, who died of Covid last month.
In a statement, BJP national General Secretary and headquarters in-charge Arun Singh said that the appointment of Kalita and Devi made by party president Nadda came into immediate effect.
