Miscreants torch graveyard gate in Bihar's Aurangabad

Patna: Tension erupted in Aurangabad town, Bihar, after unknown vandals damaged a structure and set fire to the entrance gate of a graveyard in Navadih under the town police jurisdiction late on Saturday.
In response, the district administration deployed extra armed police forces in the area as a precautionary measure.
According to the police, the perpetrators entered the graveyard, damaged part of a structure, and then vandalized the main entrance gate, setting it on fire, reportedly to incite unrest among the Muslim community. However, the situation was quickly brought under control through the prompt action of senior district officials.
Ambarish Rahul, the Superintendent of Police (SP) in Aurangabad, stated that additional police forces have been deployed in the sensitive areas of the town. He mentioned that processions for Ram Navami would be held and that security has been strengthened in preparation for the religious event, TNIE reported.
He also noted that a meeting was conducted with peace committee members, led by the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Sadar, Sanjay Kumar Pandey. According to Rahul, those attending the meeting praised the restraint shown by the minority community members.
SDPO Pandey indicated that efforts are underway to identify the individuals responsible for the incident and assured that those involved, regardless of their identity, would face consequences. Additionally, police conducted a flag march through the town to reassure the residents.
