Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is slated to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi during her four-day visit to New Delhi ahead of the Winter Session of Parliament that is scheduled to begin on November 29. A number of issues, particularly those pertaining to Bengal will be discussed, including allotment of central funds and expanding the jurisdiction of the Border Security Force, according to reports.

She may also be meeting with key Opposition leaders, including Sonia Gandhi, in order to discuss strategy ahead of the Parliament session. The repeal of the farm laws bill is expected to take center stage this time. The formal process of scrapping the laws is expected in the winter session of Parliament. Banerjee had congratulated farmers for their successful protest and also offered condolences to those who had died during the 15-month agitations against the laws.

A separate TMC delegation is also expected to meet President Ram Nath Kovind in Delhi today over the continued political violence in Tripura. Trinamool leader Saayoni Ghosh was arrested and charged with attempted murder for shouting slogans at the Chief Minister's convoy in Tripura following which there was an attack on the police station she was being held in. Reports of violence between Trinamool and BJP workers have also emerged, prompting a TMC delegation to leave for Delhi to take up the issue.

The Bengal CM and Trinamool national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee had spoken to Ghosh while she was detained at the police station. Abhishek even tried to bring forward his Tripura visit to Sunday evening, but his flight wasn't given permission to land, said sources. Abhishek is scheduled to conduct a road show in Agartala this week.
