Mumbai: Maharashtra, on Thursday, recorded 853 new COVID-19 deaths taking the total toll in the state to 73,515. With 62,194 new cases, the state case tally now hovers below the 5 million mark, health officials informed.

The capital state of Mumbai reported 3,028 fresh COVID-19 cases, increasing the city's tally to 68,085. 69 deaths were added to the death toll of the capital city.

The death rate in the state has been stable at 1.49% for the past five days. However, the recovery rate has improved and is at 85.54 % after 63,842 patients recovered and returned home.
