Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde expressed gratitude towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi for realising the aspirations of millions by overseeing the construction of the grand Ram Temple in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh.

Shinde was speaking at an event marking the departure of 300 devotees embarking on a 47-day foot journey to Ayodhya.

"I am thankful to PM Modi and UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for fulfilling the dreams of crores of people with the construction of the Ram Temple. It will be fruitful for their 'shraddha, asmita, and bhakti' (devotion and pride)," Shinde said.

Highlighting the vision of Shiv Sena's late founder Bal Thackeray, Shinde emphasised the desire for a magnificent temple in Ayodhya. He praised the transformation of the holy city, depicting its significance as a global pilgrimage centre.

Shinde disclosed plans for their visit to Ayodhya for the temple inauguration on January 22, aiming to witness the idol consecration ceremony.

Addressing the 300 pilgrims, he acknowledged the challenging nature of their pilgrimage, commending their dedication and bravery for undertaking such a journey.

The departure of devotees symbolises the reverence and fervour associated with the pilgrimage to Ayodhya, showcasing the significance and anticipation surrounding the monumental occasion of the temple's consecration.
