Irritated Lok Sabha Speaker asks Rahul Gandhi 'who you are to grant permission?'

New Delhi: Congress MP Rahul Gandhi got rebuked by the Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla for the former saying he will permit another MP to speak, thus not following proper behaviour inside the House, Asian News International reported.

On Wednesday, the Speaker lashed out at Rahul, asking him who he was to give someone permission in the house. Rahul can't do that, and it is the Speaker's right to allow anyone, he said.

During a motion of thanks to the President's address in the lower house, Rahul Gandhi paused to tell BJP MP Kamlesh Paswan, who stood up to say something, that he is a democratic person and will allow the other person to speak.

Rahul was making remarks about Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying that India cannot be ruled as a kingdom, and the king does not listen to anyone. He also said that BJP MP Kamlesh, a Dalit himself, knows the history of Dalit and is familiar with who oppressed the community for 3,000 years. Kamlesh is in the wrong party, Rahul said. Kamlesh had only spoken just before Rahul.

At that instant, infuriated, Kamlesh rose and gestured at the Speaker for permission, and Rahul declared that he permits the BJP MP to talk to speak, irritating the Speaker.

Kamlesh retorted that he was able to speak as an MP because of his party BJP, which made him MP thrice. He asked what more was he required with the party.

However, Rahu Gandhi's remarks have triggered talks within the national political sphere, and many took it to social media. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted that Rahul Gandhi, who fed dogs biscuits in the presence of Assam leaders and offered them the same biscuits, must not talk about political decency.
