New Delhi: Haryana BJP MP Dharambir Singh said that Live-in relationship is a very dangerous disease and a law should be brought to prevent it. Dharambir raised this issue during the Zero Hour of the Lok Sabha. He demanded that divorce among those who marry for love is on the rise and that consent of the bride and groom's parents should be made mandatory in such marriages.

He said that he is calling the attention of the government and parliament to a very serious issue. India's culture is based on the principle of Vasudhaiva Kudumbakam and brotherhood. Our social structure is very different from that of other countries. Our unity in diversity has attracted the world's attention,' the 'BJP MP pointed out.

He continues that marriages were decided by relatives and parents in our country for years, and such arranged marriages are common even in this era. These marriages are performed with the consent of the bride and the groom. Individuals get married considering many factors such as family environment, financial and social status, etc. Marriage is a sacred thing. And lasting for seven generations. India's divorce rate was just 1.1 per cent compared to the United States. In America, it is 40 percent. Many studies have also been conducted on the failure of arranged marriages between families. But recently, divorces have been increasing in our country. The main reason for that is love marriages. Hence, it is requested that the consent of the bride, groom and parents should be made mandatory in love marriages. Because love marriages mostly do not belong to the same tribe. Hence, such marriages create conflict. Many families are broken due to this conflict. Therefore, consent of parents is essential in love marriages, he stated.

He said that now a serious social evil has emerged, namely a Live-in relatrionship. A live-in relationship is when a man and a woman live together without getting married. Such relationships are common in the West. This evil trend is spreading through our society as well. The implications are dire. The recent murder of Shraddha Walker shows this. Shraddha and partner Aftab were in a live-in relationship, Dharambir Singh said.

The MP further said that many people lead Live-in relationships in Delhi. This type of relationship kills the land's culture. Therefore, Singh added that the law minister is requested to bring a law against the live-in relationship.
