New Delhi: The Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has earned a place in the Guinness World Records for selling the highest number of life insurance policies in a single day.

In a landmark achievement verified by Guinness World Records, LIC announced that it had set a global benchmark on January 20, 2025, when a staggering 4,52,839 of its agents successfully completed and issued 5,88,107 life insurance policies across the country — all within 24 hours.

This extraordinary accomplishment marks the highest number of life insurance policies ever sold in a single day globally, showcasing an unprecedented level of agent productivity in the life insurance industry.

“This record is a powerful validation of the relentless dedication, skill, and tireless work ethics of our agents. It reflects our deep commitment to providing vital financial protection to our customers and their families,” LIC said in a statement.

The record-setting drive was part of an initiative led by LIC Managing Director and CEO Siddhartha Mohanty, who had appealed to every LIC agent to issue at least one policy on ‘Mad Million Day’, observed on January 20.

Thanking customers, agents, and employees for their collective effort, Mohanty described the day as “historic”, praising the coordinated energy and determination that led to this monumental feat.
