KTR backs CJP protest, says he predicted Gen-Z uprising months ago

Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) on Tuesday expressed solidarity with the Cockroach Janta Party's (CJP) protests held near Parliament and Jantar Mantar in Delhi, saying he had predicted nearly 10 months ago that a Gen-Z-led movement would emerge in India if the aspirations of young people continued to be ignored.

In a post on X, KTR shared a video of his remarks from an NDTV Yuva event held around 10 months ago, in which he had drawn parallels between the Gen-Z protests in Nepal and the ongoing demonstrations in Delhi, Siasat Daily reported.

Referring to his earlier comments, KTR said he had warned that a youth-led protest was inevitable if governments failed to address the concerns and aspirations of the younger generation. Following Monday's protests in Delhi, he said it was time for the Union government to respond to the demands for accountability and reforms in the education sector.

In the video, KTR had said the protests in Nepal were driven by concerns over the suppression of democracy and the voices of young people. He noted that while the demonstrations were initially portrayed as protests against internet disruptions, they were fundamentally about the future of the country's youth.

Responding to a question during the event on whether similar protests could take place in India, KTR had said such a movement was possible if governments continued to ignore the expectations and aspirations of Gen-Z and the wider population.
