text_fieldsJeddah: Union Minister for Parliamentary and Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju visited the historic Al Rahmah Mosque, popularly known as the Floating Mosque, in Jeddah during his visit to Saudi Arabia for the 6th Haj Conference and Exhibition 2027.
Rijiju shared photographs of his visit on X on Saturday, November 7, describing the mosque as a place of spiritual significance and architectural beauty overlooking the Red Sea. He also highlighted its reflection of Saudi Arabia’s rich Islamic heritage.
The Union Minister arrived in Jeddah on Friday to attend the conference, participate in the signing of the bilateral Haj agreement between India and Saudi Arabia, and review arrangements for Indian pilgrims undertaking Haj next year. He said his engagements would focus on ensuring a safe and comfortable pilgrimage.
Preparations for Haj 2027 were also discussed during a meeting last month between India's Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Vipul, and Saudi Vice Minister of Haj and Umrah Abdulfattah bin Suleiman Al-Mashat.
The Indian delegation also inspected the Haj Terminal at Jeddah Airport and the Haramain High Speed Railway Station to assess infrastructure and operational arrangements.
The Consulate General of India in Jeddah said more than 100,000 Indian pilgrims travel through the Haj Committee of India route, making both facilities crucial for their arrival and onward transportation during the pilgrimage.
