Kashmiri Journalist adjudged the Best Television Reporter for 2019

An NDTV journalist, hailing from Kashmir, Nazir Masoodi, has been adjudged the best television reporter award (English) for the year 2019 by the Indian Televison Industry Association.Nazir was awarded for his coverage of the abrogation of the Article 370 and its aftermath. Nazeer was among the very few journalists who reported from Kashmir during the period.

After the 'special status' was stripped by the Centre Kashmir went into an "information blackout", newspapers stopped publishing, few journalists were put behind bars. Nazir took the "challenge" and reported from ground zero.

"I'm humbled to receive the award for my reporting on August 5 and it's aftermath in Kashmir. Defying Kafkaesque version was not easy. Grateful to each one of you for your appreciation and love",reacted Nazir in Twitter

Earlier, Nazir was awarded the International Press Institute Award for "excellence in Journalism" for his coverage of the Kathua Rape and Murder Case.

With his career spanning over 20 years, Nazir has been a part of various organizations including Radio Kashmir (Akashvani Srinagar), The Week and The Indian Express.

Nazir award was received by Kashmir's very well, some celebrated it and congratulated Nazir for the same.

NDTV has won 11 awards in the "much-coveted News Television Awards". Other awardees include Ravish Kumar for his shows Des ki Baat and Prime Time, Sanket Upadhay for Muqabla, Sreenivas Jain, Prannoy Roy and Sohit Mishra.

Indian Televison, an online information and interactive service focusing on the Indian Television and Media business calls these awards the crème de la crème¬¬— the very best—of the television news industry.
