Srinagar: After the Centre notified new land laws for Jammu and Kashmir to pave way for any Indian to buy land in the Union Territory,The Kashmir based political parties have called it unacceptable saying it was like putting J&K up for sale.

Former chief minister and PDP President Mehbooba Mufti termed it as another nefarious design of the government of India to disempower people of J&K.

" Yet another step thats part of GOI's nefarious designs to disempower & disenfranchise people of J&K. From the unconstitutional scrapping of Article 370 to facilitating loot of our natural resources & finally putting land in J&K up for sale," Mufti said

"After failing on all fronts to provide roti & rozgar to people, BJP is creating such laws to whet the appetite of a gullible electorate. Such brazen measures reinforces the need of people of all three provinces of J&K to fight unitedly," she added.

People's Alliance for Gupkar Declaration termed the order as a huge betrayal.

"This is a massive assault on the rights of the people of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh and grossly unconstitutional. The Alliance has vowed to fight the anti Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh measure on all fronts," the spokesman of newly formed Peoples Alliance for Gupkar Declaration(PAGD) Sajad Lone said.

Lone added that with a serious challenge to the August 5, 2019 decisions before the top Constitutional Court of the Country, the Central Government is under an obligation to desist from such acts, out of respect for the Apex Court.

Earlier,National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah on Tuesday hit out at the new land laws notified by the Centre for Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh, terming it a "deceit" and a "wanton breach of trust".

He contended that the amendments to the land ownership law has put J&K "up for sale" and specified that the law is hostile to the interests of the people of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh.

In a tweet he said the amendments were "unacceptable".

The newly formed Apni Party, which in March this year had met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and had got an assurance that the demography of J&K will be preserved.

The home ministry on Tuesday repealed 11 more laws of the erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir under J&K Re-organisation (Adaptation of Central Laws) third Order, 2020. The legislation repealed as whole include the Jammu and Kashmir Alienation Of Land Act (V of Samvat 1995), the Jammu and Kashmir Big Landed Estates Abolition Act ( XVII Samvat 2007) , The Jammu and Kashmir Common Lands (Regulation) Act, 1956.
