Lucknow: Karni Sena activists in UP is reported to have stopped an interfaith wedding at a local court in Ballia district alleging forced conversion and a case of Love Jihad.

The right-wing activists also forcefully took the 18-year-old woman to the Kotwali police station and handed her over to her parents on Wednesday.

Ballia's Superintendent of Police said that an FIR has been registered on a complaint by her father into kidnapping and the woman will be presented before a court where she could make her statement. Further actions will be taken after her statement, the official.

The official further said, reported The Indian Express, that the woman was brought to the police station by some people who alleged illegal conversion, nothing of which established so far.

In a video widely surfaced on social media, the alleged Karni Sena activists can be seen heckling the woman with questions to which the woman is heard saying she is getting married to Dilshad Siddiqui on her own will. A man who identified himself as a member of Karni Sena enquired about her name, caste, and why she is marrying a Muslim man.

The woman can be seen firm in the video stating she belongs to a Dalit community and an adult who is marrying a man of her choice. The men also threatened Siddiqui who managed to flee the scene following the ruckus.

The father of the woman is reported to have mentioned in the petition that his daughter has been missing for two days and some people, including Siddiqui, were forcefully getting her married.
