New Delhi: A Delhi-bound IndiGo flight with over 150 passengers, including Samajwadi Party MP Dimple Yadav, aborted take-off at Lucknow airport on Sunday after a technical fault was detected.

The incident occurred on flight 6E2111, which was preparing to depart for Delhi when the operating crew noticed a snag as the aircraft accelerated on the runway. As a precaution, the pilots aborted take-off and taxied the aircraft back to the bay.

“An IndiGo aircraft operating the flight 6E2111 from Lucknow to Delhi aborted take-off. A technical issue was noticed by the operating crew, when the aircraft was on the runway before take-off. Subsequently, the aircraft returned to the bay,” the airline said in a statement.

Eyewitnesses said the aircraft suddenly braked while gaining speed, causing a brief moment of panic. All passengers, however, disembarked safely and no injuries were reported. IndiGo later arranged an alternative aircraft for the stranded travelers.

The incident comes just days after another IndiGo flight, operating from Kochi to Abu Dhabi on September 6, was forced to return mid-air due to a technical fault. That aircraft, carrying over 180 passengers, landed safely at Cochin International Airport, and a replacement plane was arranged.

“We regret the inconvenience caused to our customers and made all possible efforts to minimize it, including offering them meals and refreshments. At IndiGo, we remain committed to the safety and security of our customers and crew,” an airline spokesperson said.

Airport officials confirmed that in both incidents the pilots followed standard precautionary procedures to ensure passenger safety.
