India's national religion Santana dharma, Yogi Adityanath claims

New Delhi: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath claimed that Sanatana dharma is the national religion of India, claiming that the ongoing Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj is not meant for any single caste or religion, but for all sections, culture and creed, NDTV reported.
Adityanath made the claim in an exclusive interview with NDTV Editor-in-Chief Sanjay Pugalia that the process of worship may differ for different sections, but the religion is one and only Sanatan dharma. Maha Kumbh is the representative of that only religion, Sanatan dharma, the religion of humanity, the BJP CM claimed.
"I used the same words earlier also. Sanatan dharma is India's national religion. It is the religion of humanity. The process of worship can be different. But religion is one, and that religion is Sanatan dharma. Kumbh is the representative of that Sanatan dharma,” Adityanath said.
He further claimed that Maha Kumbh spreads the message of unity instead of discrimination, and one must stop criticizing the event without seeing it in person.
“Do not be Dhritarashtra; come see it yourself," NDTV quoted the controversial CM.
He said on Saturday that the Sanatan tradition of India is visible in this Maha Kumbh, which the whole world can see. He claimed that the country would be strong if Sanatan dharma was strong, but only when Santan dharma was strong. He said that after Shri Ram Janmabhoomi, Mathura and Kashi's dreams are now being realized.
“…if Sanatan dharma is strong, then our country will be strong…," he said, reports PTI. He also accused the opposition parties, claiming that they wanted to divide the country on caste-religious lines for their own political interests.
